im building a web based project tracker - so time logged, by agent against a given project basically - but then i would want some trend reports detailing profitability across project types, agents etc

to me it sounds like you would either need to write one of thse for your database system, or find a "job tracker" prebuild in opensource that handles everything you want....

you say you are building.... so why not incorporate this into your design? it would make sense.... design it your way, vs building your tool around someone elses reporting software...

very true, and i will to some extent but the client, as with all clients, wants extensibility - they dont want to keep coming back to me everytime they want a different view of their data and i thought there might be a nice GUI based query builder that would just 'plug-in' to any given database ... anyway, nevermind, thanks for your suggestions🙂
