Using % "mod" to make rows

How do I use the % to make rows in a table. I am getting all confused and nothing is working right.

I want to have 5 columns on each row and I have a counter update each colum so how do I use the modulus to add the start and end "<tr>"? I know I have done it multiple times before but I cannot find any of my programs that used it and I feel like I have completly lost my mind, help please. Thanks.

if ($curRow % 5 == 0) {
  echo "</tr><tr>";
}

and make sure to increment the value $curRow after each <td> you generate. When there is no remainder from a division of $curRow / 5 it means youve hit a multiple of 5 (aka youve generated another 5 td's)
