It's a hack that hasn't been installed yet. I assume JP will slap it on soon though.

It'll mark a thread as [RESOLVED], if you're the thread author. If you're not, and you click the link, it spays your dog.

Why not test it? Go to that thread you started to introduce yourself (a nice gesture btw) and click thread tools, mark thread resolved. See what it does.

Ah, it ummm? Adds [RESOLVED] to the beggining of the title, lol, I don't get it myself but I've been using IPB for so long, lol.

Now it also adds a green and yellow resolved checkmark. This aids people in recongnizing the question's been answered already.

This forum, for the most part, is about people and their problems. Err, umm, their programming problems.

If a thread is marked RESOLVED, it means that those of us who feel inclined to help such people don't have to waste time/page loads on that thread. It also can help people with similar issues --- if they find a post with a similar topic/title that is marked RESOLVED, they know that there might actually be an answer there....
