phpmyadmin problems

I installed php, mysql and phpmyadmin on my server, but when I navigate to
http://localhost/phpmyadmin/index.php
I get a page which says,

cannot load mysql extension;
please check PHP configuration

How do I configure php so it will work?

you need to enable the mySQL extension

Thanks, read that page, I created an extensions directory, how do I find out where the extensions live so I can put them in the folder? (Or do I need to download them?)

i assume that you are using PHP5. you need to download the PHP 5.0.4 zip package. it will have all of the standard libraries.

do I run php.exe from that zip package

download the ZIP package and start reading the included install.txt file.

OK, since I'm installing on an IIS server I changed the extension_dir from "c:\php to

extension_dir = "c:\Inetpub\wwwroot"

That didn't solve my problem, the txt file also says,
the *.dll extensions for php 5 are in the PECL modules package, should I do it or am I barking up the wrong tree and way off track?

ok, I made an extensions direcory and unzipped the PECL modules in it and changed the above line to point to. Did I mess things up further?
c:/php/extensions/
