Creating a redirect for click logging

I have a list of images on my page that when clicked takes you to an appropriate url. What I need is some way to track which image got clicked and to also then have the person still taken to the approapriate url.

What is the best way to do this? Passing a parameter or something or some kind of redirect? What are my options?
