it prints the persons name fine, but only "1" is being passed into $_POST['ddate']

any ideas how to correct this?

If no-one comes up with a sensible answer, I'd try:

$file = "/nicole/horoscopes/" . $_POST['ddate'] . ".txt";

And in your form just use

<option>Aries mar 21 - apr 19</option>

instead of

<option name="ari">Aries mar 21 - apr 19</option>

and you don't need the size in the following

Three things.
1. Remember to indent your code. Makes it A LOT easier to read later.
2. Use relative filenames (instead of '/nicole/horoscopes/' use './nicole/horoscopes/' to avoid problems on some file systems)
3. Use correct html. Not <option name> but <option value> and <span> instead of <font>. Of course I dont know your intensions, but just a notice 😉

got it, the size="1" was screwing me up. thanks for the help, also the "." between the variables made a difference, instead of &&, dont know why . goes in place of &&
