Advanced php script for group placements.

I hope to get some help here.
I don't use mysql, as it needs to be used after a season has ended, and a new starts.
I am currently using a script I made, which uses 2 files:
Fixtures.php and info.php
info.php has the variables, used in fixtures.php
It is, ie:

Above is not the entire code for fixtures.php, as it's quite long, and has 4 groups, with 6 teams in each, they will meet eachother once within 5 weeks, and the system is working 100%.
$text1 is also defined in info.php, and is optional text above the table.

What I like to get answer to is:
I want above example to be shown blank, when starting or after pressing a "Clear" button, and a form where it will ask for team1_1 with text, and spec1_1 selectable from pulldown menu, or by text. (Not actually important.)

I want the script, after typing the teamname, and characters, to update the script, and show it right after either pressing update button/link, or have it show in real-time.
Either is ok.

So to shorten the question:
How do I make a loop, where the script can be updated, after writing the teamname, and character for team1_1, then request the name and characters for team1_2 etc. untill all in group 1 is done, then go to group 2, and 3 and 4?

Would be great if possible to make it adjustable, ie. by asking, before above is asked, how many groups total, then how many teams in each group.
I have trouble figuring out, how to stay on the formpage, untill all data is given.

If you have a solution, but too large to put here, feel free to mail me the answer.

I hoped I could make this 1st script without any help, and I could, sort of, just not this expanded group placement.
Right now I need to edit the info.php for each new season.

I can use mysql database, but would prefer not to, as this is only to set the times.

It gives the following look, exept for whats withing the red square, which is what I want automized:

Where I want all the cells to be empty to start with, and as I post the teams and characters, it update it, and ask for next clan.

Optionally it would be great, to have following to start with, before entering the teams:

[ ] 2 groups
[ ] 3 groups
[o] 4 groups
[ ] 5 groups
[ ] 6 groups

and:

Teams per group:
[ ] 4
[ ] 5
[o] 6
[ ] 7
[ ] 8

And have the tables auto correct to the specified amount of columns and rows.
When 6 teams in same group, it's 5 weeks, and with 1 column for the Team, and 1 for their characters, it's therefore 7 columns.
Same for rows, it's 6 teams, + the info header of the table, as shown on the script example.

Must be possible, but how?
Regarding the table autosize, I know it can be made with:

$cell=1; $cell<=$maxcells; $cell++;
and the coding for ther table comes.

I should be able to find out about that myself, but help is always appriciated.

What I can't find out, is how to do as the image: have a button to update, and when updating, stay there, show the update and ask for next one.
Should be something, so it's writing to the info.php:

Maybe the solution is to have something like: What ID for team 1_1?
then in a formfield type team1_1, or by dropdown menu?
Then I could use the write command, with a html code to organize the info.php, with the coding as above for info.php?

Or a template, where there's links on all places where it can add info, then come with a prompt, and ask for info?

Hope I made it a bit clearer, and could get some help, as I am currently blank for ideas, how to do it :bemused:

Wow. I'm sorry, and I don't usually say this, but I'm thouroughly confused at this post. I'll do the best I can with oversimplification though, and perhaps you can apply it to your problem.

The most basic problem that it comes down to is this: You want to update the info.php with values from that form?

I dunno how, and thats whgy I am here.
I was thinking.. the fixtures.php is used as shell, or execution file. Its the one that runs it all.
Info is taken from info.php

What I'd like to have, is empty cells, instead of the "team 1" "team 2" etc.
So the whole table is empty.
When typing "team 1" as team, and "A _ C" as characters, and then press "Update" then it fill all current "team 1" cells up, with the value you type.

Here's an example:
I have updated Group D team 1 as Name: "Newbies" and Characters: "Human" and updated it.
Then I typed the info for Group D team 2, and just pressed "Update" It should then show it like this:

And if the entered has a error, or is wrong, it should be possible to change it, by pressing the appropriate radio buttons, like above picture.

Then changes can be made, if a typo or wrong text is entered, so here I change it:

After the correct text is entered, I press update, and want the script to autoupdate, like this:

And when I select group D team 3, it will show: - as name and: - as character.
I modify this, as well as team 4, 5 and 6 in group D.
Same goes for Group A, B and C.

I hope this made it clearer.
I hope so, if not, I dunno what I can do to show/tell what I want it to do.

All above is the whole idea, can vary if needed, but this is what I hope it to be, when it's finished.

Any way to do this, is accepted.
I prefer without using mysql, but if it's needed to help making this project, then it's no problem, as I do have a mysql database.

And if using the mysql, it would be AWESOME if it could shuffle the teams, by pressing a button.

Your solution probably will be easiest, as PHP integrated with MySQL really does make a great team. But again, for more specific adive, bug the moderators! 😃

Yes, I PM the first top 5 posters, whereoff 1 didnt allow receiving PM, but took 4 other with about 4000-10000 posts i believe.
2 of them did have their name in bold.
But they might be busy atm. It is summer after all 🙂
Anyway, don't worry, I will come back here, and post what I did.
Might aim for MySQL, as it's easier to add/modify and delete again.

So I will try make a button, that wipe the mysql database, where the data is stored.
And make a form for the data.

Might not be anytime soon, but I think I'll get it done someday 😉
I don't have unlimited time myself, so might take a few months.

It will indeed be a challenge, but also that more happier when it is done, as I did it myself 🙂
