sorry though i know this may not be talked here but my current space have no mysql db,im using win2000 iis, so i suppose asp forum maybe the choice for me.

anyway can you help?

There are forums without DB requirements, search on hotscripts.com I personally dont know of any. If your wanting to find an ASP solution use the same site they will be bound to have at least 1 free ASP forum, you will find most ASP things will cost some money.

Yes there are free PHP forums, and no vBulletin is not free the most popular free PHP forum is PHPBB which requires a database.

IIS is more of a web server than it is a database. I believe phpBB (linked above) will work with several database configurations, including SQL Server (proprietary database for windows, usually used with IIS in most configurations).

Otherwise you can check out www.aspplayground.net. Don't know if they're free or not, but one of the forums I visit quite regularly is run on this and I always thought it was a neat looking forum. But like was stated above, most PHP run forums aren't restricted to MySQL. That just seems to be the DBMS of choice for PHP because PHP has many built in functions to work with a MySQL database, and it's also free and very powerful, so two free products working together really can't be beat.

What DBMS do you have available? Again, IIS is not a database server, it is merely a proprietary Windows web server (for the most part).

emmm,let me see this then... for one and a half hour i had tried to setup a phpBB forum using Access db but.... always there comes error🙁

well for starters.... does your host support php? reason i ask is, i think most hosts supporting php also support mysql.

yes they do support mysql but they also charge for using that db.
thats why i wanto know whether there is another way out.

do you know if they support sqlite? its a much better option than access.

its a pity they dont support that they even dont hear about sqlite before ...

this question is like this:

now i have a 200Mb webspace on their side, they support Accsss for free (the .mdb file can be anywhere in my folders)
but if i would like to use mysql db, i need to pay(the mysql db file will be on another machine and my provider will give me db name ,usrname and pswd etc.)

so im wonderling if i could get some free mysql db from internet,(who also provides me db/usr name and pswd), at least i 'd like to have a try b'coz i never use a mysql db before and i need to experience that first.

it that possible?
