Upgraded PHP - now every POST var is escaped!

The server I use (fortunately, for dev and testing) recently had its PHP installation upgraded from 4.1.2 to 4.3.1. Now, it seems that every POST var is escaped (all quotes are prepended with a backslash, and possibly other escapable characters). Is there some default INI directive that needs to be modified?

they must have changed the magic_quotes_gpc directive in the php.ini. this setting essetially runs all GET/POST/Cookie data thru [man]addslashes[/man]. you can always [man]stripslashes[/man] if necessary.

Oh, yeah, I want to through every single variable in every single script I ever made and stripslashes 😉 (We plan to upgrade PHP on our public server).

Aaaanway, thanks, I found that magic_quotes_gpc was "on" (after searching through a few copies of PHP.INI), which has now been switched to "off".
