Rebuilding an E-Commerce system

Hey,

I'm interested in becoming a junior webmaster (website maintainer I think) but I was thinking about rebuilding the website, what sort of PHP would I need to know in order to be able to rebuild the ecommerce system.

Is a big commercial package required or would a solo-developer be able to make a system which can handle credit card transactions?

Welcome to the forum Tom!

I'm sure you can do so yourself but it will probably be complex for a PHP newcomer. What might be best is that you learn PHP (through a book, class, movie, video game, action figure, etc.), then d/l and play around with free PHP scripts to see how it's used in the real world. At this point I'm sure you'd be smart enough in PHP and it's intricacies that you'll know where to start!
