Thumbshot help

Hello everybody,

I need a little help. I'm trying to make an application which has an option to capture a thumbshot of any site and display it.

Here is my problem. How can I make a thumbshot in PHP?

By thumbshot, do you mean a thumb of a screen shot? As in you put in a website address, it gets the page, turns it into a picture, and then shrinks it down to thumbsize? Because if that's what you mean, I'm pretty sure it's impossible. PHP is good, but not that good. Maybe someone else here thinks otherwise though. Unless you want to make your own "browser" in php, which can read in an html file and render it onto a jpg. I wouldn't recommend that though, it would be far, far too much effort for what it's worth.

Yes, it does seem quite impossible. Although somehow some sites do it; perhaps you should contact them and see what they do (although they probably use a C spider which does process and render the HTML onto an image).
