I've just uploaded the site and admin/inc/visual_template_inc.php is all present and correct

any ideas?

The server limits you to what directories you are allowed to include and fopen files in. Its a security measure to help protect data from other directories.

I'm baffled - the open_basedir restriction :

'Limit the files that can be opened by PHP to the specified directory-tree, including the file itself. This directive is NOT affected by whether Safe Mode is turned On or Off.'

but I'm trying to include a file that is in the specified directory tree

Is this a server problem?

problem solved

I'd uploaded the file onto a new type of server with the same host, and the path to the site root had changed.

I corrected the path and now everything is fine
