Anyone know what script type this would classify as?

I'm trying to find a script that I can load up for one of my local car clubs to use, basically i want them to be able to register, post information, other people to add comments, and possibly even rate/vote sort of thing on the original information... I've looked at a ton of news pages, classified pages, voting pages, and blogs.... I've seen sites like this before, yet I cant seem to find one... the ones that come close are ones that users have to be added manually, which I suppose I could hack to make an automated process, but the goal of this was to require extremely little of my time 😉

Anyone know if maybe I'm looking in the wrong area? know of a similiar script?

sounds like a wiki to me. there should be a few around made in php.

A Wiki can't really be considered "posting"...also, a Wiki definitely doesn't do comments are polls/voting. To me it seems like a CMS, almost like Mambo or Drupal.

Tekky, I agree- check out a CMS for multiple functionality; you can try opensource.com where you can poke around and "test drive" different ones before installing and launching it yourself.

That's a very interesting site...I should've thought about it a long time ago 😃 It's really innovative how it lets me "try out" all the functions of a CMS, even with admin, without having to download and install it.

thanks, looks like Xoops and it modules might provide me what I need 😉 Never figured "CMS" would cover things other then just layout and such hehe guess I never really looked at a CMS before 😛

Xoops is good, you should take a look at phpWebsite as well; a lot of modules come on the default installation making it a little quicker to deploy.

downloading it also, looks promising with a small hack maybe... (unless I find a module for it)

but wanna give Xoops a try first 😉
