config problem with php

Hi all and thank you in advance for those who have mercy to anwser this post. I am not a programmer.... All i wanted to learn to create couple of forms for my site. Found out i need to learn one of programming scripts. Found php.. and would love to learn it. I have found good tutorials how to install Apache on windows xp.. and php & mySQl... I have installed server.. worked perfectly well - tested and was happy with outcome. Then installed php 5.04... and now got totally lost.

Couldnt' find good easy tutorials that would help me. .. all refer to old version... i figured out that all i have to change is ini files.... but how.. I feel stupid and unable to figure out on my own. I have even paid to create form for me...from my invalid pension.... but form does not work the way I want... I cannot spend more money... and besides I would love to learn php...
Understand script..basics... with millions of good tutorials available...

But stuck to set properly server and php... installer refer only to IIS... and config for some reason does not working for me.. .various msge are displayed.... I have first search for errors anwser.... found few.. and tried correct like port etc.. but when i fix port then again ..and again problems... Anyone can give me suggestion...for good tutorials for moron like myself .. to just follow steps .. by steps to install and config proplerly all elements.

All tutorials i found refer to old versions... and php.net site is too complicated at this stage for me...they have read me files.. but i cannot make sense out of that...

In desparation .. i am considering to uninsall apache.. and install IIS as they have installer.

installing php 5 is not much different from 4. i think the php manual explains pretty simple how to configure php to run with apache on windows:

thats really all there is to it but thats the minimum amount it takes to set it up, so you cant do less than they say.

there are some things out there you can download that install php mysql and apache all for you.

and a good place to learn is www.zend.com/php/beginners/

I tried to follow those tutorials.. . and still doing sth wrong .. it says the specified module cannot be found
cannot load c:/php/sapi/php5apache2.dll into server the specified module cannot be found🙁

I do not know what I am doing wrong .. I thought i followed instruction copies files to windows.. directory.. and still have problem

wow you are great! I definitely will try that... probably this weekend... at this moment I am trying to catch up with learning... php.. hard method... jumping in and out from server provided for my webstie... but at least I can understand how script works... after I will finish regular expressions and basics... i will definitely need to install mysql and php on my computer to learn quering and get to forms.

I find php easy... and logical... but i am confused with server part... will have to stay weekend trying to work it out.. but looks like they got all in one place.
Thank you very much for that link... if you ever need help with any graphic software and movie etc etc .. just let me know... Ulead, Macromedia... Adobe, Jasc. Poser.. etc etc.. Just server and all those technical issues are not mine pice of cake. I am 47 old woman.. and that technology is too much... learning script is not so bad... actually I do like it.. but ... server ... those technical info.. config.. .are all Chinese for me. I think php is more logical than Java... and easy to understand.

All I wanted to learn to create good forms ...hehehe.. and getting deeper and deeper into woods.

yes php is definately easy and logical. more so than java id agree too. you will find that handling forms isnt very hard either, theyve really simplified that as well.
the server setup can be tricky because you have to setup multiple things and they all rely on the other working properly.
so good luck with the learning and hope to see you back here if you have more questions.

Your likely missing DLLs and they are not installed in the path. My suggestion is to take every DLL out of the PHP distribution and copy it over to the SYSTEM32 directory.

Thank you Kobashi and Drew. I think you solved my problem Kobashi... I have followed tutorials ... that I have found on one of the forums... and it specified copying dl files to windows. I was not sure if system or syst32...
The only reason I followed that tutorials ...because after following ... setting server... it worked ... so thought it will work with the rest.

But by the way Drew you can count I will be here often... I think I got hooked on php... Yesterday I have spend over 16 hours in front of computer trying different approches... and if I wasn't so sleepy ... i would probably stay another 48 hehee. It is wonderful ! I remeber when I have learn long time ago macros for lotus ( when Windows were not in existence and only version of lotus was from DOS)... and it seems similar in logic.. ... full of possibilities... so as soon as my site be ready ... and I learn forms.. I probably in spare time will have a lot of fun with php. Ghee wish I was younger... I could spend more than 16 hours in front of computer... and do not worry about money or anything ... just got pleasure to learn... and php is definitely full of possibilities...
And while learning I will share. At this moment I am just a user... that does not make me feel too good 🙂
