Text Link Form Submit

I'm trying to make it so instead of an image submitting my form, its just a plain text link. The problem is any of them I have tried using either done work, or if they do im stuck with a big text input box.

Basically I need to submit the value of a variable $page. The script itself determines what the variable value will be when I press the button, I don't need to type it in.

How can I do this? I know you have to use javascript.

Basically what it does is, displays 12 images in a table, and then creates Next Page and Previous Page links. The page number determines which set of 12 images is displayed, but through some simple math equations the Previous Page will always have a page value of one less than the current, and the Next page will always have a page value of one more than the current.

So the math determines the value of page, I just need the value to be submitted.

Currently I've had to use images for the next page and previous page, but I need to change to text links so I can add page links as well (im not making buttons for all the pages lol)

Any reason why you do not use the URL to pass the variable?

And in the somepage.pgp:

$page = $_GET['page'];

I think I have quality posts! I was just merely stating a fact that when I first arrived on this forum as a n00b, people like you and halojoy were intimidating with all those posts. But now I've gotten more than someone who helped me when I was meek. 😃

I'm not using the URL links thing because I used to use that, but I cant anymore. I added simple links rewritecode in the .htaccess, so no more php links, now its .html links

Allright, but why does that involve submitting a form using a text link? In either case, URLs make no difference. The JS code to submit it is the same regardless of how your URLs are set-up.

Maybe I'm missing something. Could you try explaining a bit better?

If so, I would say you deserved to die and not him/her.

But there is on the other hand, in halojoy most definite opinion,
always a time and place to bring up the question:

What are we living for?
Who am I?
How should we live?
Should we consider or fellow man or just think about ourselves?
Is 1 dead white englishman or spanish women worth as much as 1 dead iraqi child, policeman or young man?
Is it a greater tradgedy when a rich New Yorker in a high building dies
than when a 1 year old boy dies of hunger in his mothers arms in somewhere in Africa? Might well be in Sudan or Niger.

Hundreds of thousands die every year by lack of food, malaria and AIDS around our world.
And here are we, worrying about parts of URL ...
And making a fuzz aboutsome 3.000 people dies on a 11 of September in a place rich enough to buy
a small African country, with houses, people and all their belongings.
Or some 50 are dead in a subway in London
When millions and millions of people dies like flies on this Earth.

should work. But still.. Consider normal textlinks with the variable in the url. Javascript is asking for trouble when you rely on it for website navigation, since not everybody is using it.

The reason the .HTML pages do not work, is probably related to your server settings: The server probably doesn't scan HTML files for PhP codes. You can reconfigure that somewhere (Don't ask me where please!!)

Nope, don't think there is a problem. I just explained why it is bad practice and better to try to avoid these links, and what might be causing the problem with normal textlinks.
