hi,
I have wampserver installed on a windows machine. I can open the page on the browser either using: http://localhost/ or http://computername/ or http://127.0.0.1/ (and all of these with port 80)
From another PC on the network I can go to: http://computername/ successfully
Well, this doesn't work when I'm using a MAC instead of a PC. I've also tried http://computername:80/ without luck.
I'm not familiar with MACs so I have no idea what the problem is or what to do.
Hi, does the mac have access to the network, can you get to other sites on the network or the internet??
Yes. The MAC is on the network. It accesses the internet and the other computers (files and folders).
It's just the http://computername/ that doesn't work as expected, at least, as I'd expect it to, as I'm used to PCs.
try using the ip instead of the computer name.
Thank you, that does work, the problem is that we have dynamic IPs so next time it will be different.
It would be great if there was another option!
I've actually had the same problem at the network where I frequent...the macs work if you type the IP but not the computer name - it might have something to do with how macs resolve domain names and the configuration of your DNS server.
