two directories, two results

I hate to think I'm a newbie and can't figure this out on my own, but I'm stuck. First off, I've got Apache2, PHP5.0.4, and XP Pro. I've got some problems getting MySQL to work, but that's for another day.

Anyway, I have an index.php in a directory, let's say ~/myphp. When I go to this location in my browser, I get exactly what I expect to see. Now, I've got another index.php at ~/myphp/another_dir/. And when I try that location, I get asked to save a file. Right now, this is only happening on Firefox but I know my end users will be using that so this might be an issue.

Any ideas?

Are you outputting any headers, or do you perform any changes with a .htaccess file in the subdirs? I had to use AddType text/html .cgi to a directory for running php as cgi under suExec, which Explorer didn't give a monkey about, but Firefox asked to save before I did that.

No headers. Nothing in the .htaccess. What is strange is that this case does not work:

http://www.mysite.com/~myphp/another_dir/

and this one does work:

http://www.mysite.com/~myphp/another_dir/index.php

What is wrong with the way I have php set up that Mozilla distinguishes between these two cases?
