Cookies wont work

I set my cookie to a value, then a form reloads my page. The cookie's value is still the same as before it was changed. When I reload the page the cookie is changed.

It's like I had to reload the page twice to get the cookies to work.

Anyone know why this would happen, or how to fix it?

Post some relevant code - but first write a few test scripts with print_r($COOKIE) in them so you know what's being set - and you seem to know that when you set a cookie the $COOKIE array won't have that value until you move on.

Okay, let me explain my page. At the top of the PHP file I have a bunch of commands that check the $GET variables and $POST variables to see what the user is trying to do, and whether or not he is logged in. Note: my PHP skills aren't very good.

Not sure about the first problem but you know you can just do this:

all you are doing to check if they are logged in? its very easy to forge cookies or change their values. you should use sessions to manage your logins.
