Bandwidth + Images + Public Script >_<

I wouldn't consider myself a n00b but none the less this is a VERY n00bie question

Ok...

I hate image1 hosted OFF site...

but I have a script that

readfile("offsite/image1.gif");

after sending proper headers... SO... does this picture get pulled through my bandwidth? Basically... this script will be executed NUMEROUSLY by users... so I need to host the pix off site... not because of space... but bandwidth... so will that solve my problem?

using <img> tags is NOT possible at all.. it has to be sent with headers as the actual image...

Well you are reading that from other server to your server so it uses your own server's dl-bandwidth to get the data and then you serve the data to user and it uses your server's upload-bandwidth...

<img> tag would be the only way to save bandwidth IMO
