2 forums on the same site needed to connect to 1 database

I was wondering if someone could tell me how I can connect two forums to one database. These forums are on the same website and share pretty much the same space, so I know it has to be possible. If you have any comments/help/suggestions, please post them.

are they both the same type of forum? i meen, do the tables that work for one work for the other?

if so, i would think it would be as easy as selecting the same database in both forums wherever mysql_select_db is called. of course, depending on the forum, i would think this setting would more than likely be in some config file somewhere.

These forums are the same type(phpB😎 and are on the same website. I'm a beginner at this stuff, so everythings a bit fuzzy. So what your saying is the table and database setup is in the config.php file? I'll check that out I guess and see what I find.

One more question if you don't mind:
Let's say there are other services on this website. Will it be hard to configure all services into one database? At least the username and that info?

When you first set up phpBB it asks which DB you want to use. Just put the files in separate folders and give them a different prefix for the table names and you're all set.

As long as the other services allow you to choose a prefix for its table names, you shouldn't have any problems.
