selecting reacords from multiple tables

i have following tables in the DB

student, subjects, category, majors, interest

student table has a primary key of student_id and every other table has a foriegn key of student_id ...now on a page i want to display all records from tables having foriegn keys where the student_id is let say 1

i know i would have to write a long inner join code but i am confused how to do it

plz help me out

You shouldn't join all tables,

select s.name, 'subjects', su.name, ...
from students s 
  inner join subjects su on s.id = su.studentid
union all
select s.name, 'majors', m.name, ...
from students s 
  inner join majors m on s.id = m.studentid
...

change names as apropriate.

should i use union all after every select ???? and in UNION ALL you have to select qual number of columns from every table
