MD5 Picture on Remote Server

Does anyone know how I would go about getting the MD5 of a image located on a remote website without actually downloading the picture to my site?

Ask someone (e.g. a person with access to the image) to take the MD5 hash of the image for you.

I would if they would, but they are automatically generated images from an online game.

How would I go about temporarily downloading them to get the md5?

You can use say [man]file_get_contents/man or the traditional [man]fsockopen/man, [man]fopen/man, [man]fread/man, or you can use the CURL functions.

Why do you need the MD5 hash for anyway?

verification that the image hasn't been altered as the user uploads a picture showing someone cheating..
