Hey everyone,
This is for all the developers of all the web development companies out there. Most of you have bid on websites before. I would hope so because that's kind of what the sales people do. However, I have a problem. I am looking for everyone's input so don't be shy. I was curious how many pages you guys make for a bid on a website. Let's say it's a simple 5 page site. How many do you make and what do you make them in?
Example:
We are creating a 5 page website for some company (call them company x). My sales person wants me to create all 5 pages in full XHTML/HTML standards to present to them. We haven't even gotten paid a dime for this site. Is that standard? Do you create the entire site before it's sold?
Example 2:
We are bidding on a site that is going to be very large. We are talking 50+ pages without the database. (whew) It is going to have a full shopping cart and everything which is fine. However, for that bid we created 11 pages in full HTML standards to show them. Some with full streaming video! We are bidding against other big time firms out here on this one.
Now, I feel we should create only 1 home page, 3 sub-pages (with different designs, colors, ect). All done in Photoshop or Illustrator (or whatever). Just show them the images. Am I on the rocker here? If so can someone point me to a source that says that? Because my company doesn't believe it until they read it. You get what I mean.
Thanks everyone,
Oh, and how's your day going?
Chad
