MySQL Full Text Searching - Validating Query

Does anyone know of any convenient functions or scripts to check the submitted fields within a form for invalid queries...

i.e. Search form has some select boxes and a keyword search option. If a carefully constructed query was entered into the keywork option, this could cause problems.

How do i validate the keyword string for such invalid strings, and only search on separate words?

Any help, much appreciated.
