Access_log reading help?

Hey all, my access_log on my server is freakishly large (1 gigabyte, roughly)...

I really need to view the last 24 hours of it, and have no idea how to do that.

I am using PuTTY to view logs (using PICO) and was wondering if there is a way to show only the last few days of activity.

You can use tail to display the last lines of a file:

$ tail -50 /var/log/apache2/access.log

will show you the last 50 lines.

Another thing you could do is fiddle around with sed and regular expressions.

So if I am using PuTTY and I want to see the last 1000 lines of access_log, is there any way I can actually scroll through 1,000 lines? PuTTY only shows about 50 lines at a time, and you can't scroll through all of the results.
