MySQL storage engine?

Hello,

Im currently using MySQLs MyISAM table format on a table that holds alot of information (close to 500MB and increasing).

I read that the ISAM table has a limit at 4GB and can't hold any more information in one table... does that go for MyISAM as well??

What is the limit for a table running on the MyISAM storage engine??
And if there is a 4GB limit, what happens when this limit is reached??

500MB is not that big at all. If you have MySQL version 3.23 or higher then don't worry about it getting big because MySQL can handle it. The limit will actually be imposed by your operating system.

Also keep in mind that if you reach that limit, and have to create new tables, you can still search across multiple tables using MERGE. Merging tables does not actually join them physically together, but it makes MySQL use them as if they are.

65536 terabytes is a lot!

The limit will actually be imposed by your operating system.

Do you mean that there is a special limit set by the operating system ? Where can I see this?
