Seperating contents of a variable...

Hey, i'm working on an addin for my phpBB forum...

... the database keeps a users inventory items in a single database field in this format:

ßComm BadgeÞßPaintball MaskÞßComm BadgeÞßPhase PistolÞßTazerÞßThree Move AdvÞßFlashbangÞßPepper Ball GunÞßBeanbag ShotgunÞßShadowÞßSmall KnifeÞ

Does anyone know how i would go about seperating all of the items into

$item1 = "Comm Badge"
$item2 = "Paintball Mask"
$item3 = "Comm Badge"

etc.

Keeping in mind that not all users have the same number of items...?

Use an array in combination with explode

<?php
$string = 'itemA | itemB | itemC | itemD';
$separated = explode(' | ',$string);
// $separated[0] = 'itemA'
// $separated[1] = 'itemB'
// $separated[2] = 'itemC'
// $separated[3] = 'itemD'
?>

After your explode statement, you should add this:

for ($separated as $key => $value)
     $item{$key} = $value;

Now he can reference like "$item1", "$item2", etc.
