Displaying PHP in a database

Hello all. Does anybody know if there is a way to put <html> markup language in the text field of a database, and then display it back correctly?

I have inserted the tags into the database OK, but there is a whole bunch of whitespace where the <html> tags are.

why dont you just have Php add the Html tags on when it process the data

You can do so with no problem normally...are you sure you're not using stripslashes() or addslashes() or mysql_real_escape_string() or something like those?
