What do you get when you combine 1,000 $50 iBooks and an angry horde of people? An iStampede!

Wow. I cannot believe people are that fanatic.
The look on the guard's face pretty much says it all. He looks like Dallas at the end of the dinner scene in Alien.
Yup yup
🙂
That is crazy i guess for $50 bucks why not 🙂 Thats funny though.
£25 for an iBook???? Not surprised there was a riot. It would probably have been cheaper for me to fly over there and buy one than it would be to buy one over here!
What's the conversion rate between a £ and a $? Is it half? So my $1,000,000 USD (I wish 😉) would be worth £500,000?
With most iBooks selling for between $900-$1,000, it would be cheaper to fly from ($your_country) to the US and buy them.
At the moment it's £1 = $1.81
So roughly half
Allright; thanks
That's crazy. They just aired a news segment about this on TV as I was reading this.
My girl friend said they should have given out a number to each person. I said to her, that's a nice idea, but I just don't think they expected that kind of turn out to begin with.

piersk, OK...cool.
Madonna is on the news because she fell off a horse and broke a wrist, collar bone and broken or cracked ribs. What is it about celebrities and them falling off horses?
Jesse Sandler said he was one of the people pushing forward, using a folding chair he had brought with him to beat back people who tried to cut in front of him. "I took my chair here and I threw it over my shoulder and I went, 'Bam,"' the 20-year-old said nonchalantly, his eyes glued to the screen of his new iBook, as he tapped away on the keyboard at a testing station. "They were getting in front of me and I was there a lot earlier than them, so I thought that it was just," he said.

Kids, this is NOT an example of either desired behavior not social cooperation.
And the fact that everyone else was being an [expletive deleted] doesn't make it right either.
What are we teaching children these years?
All that for a bunch of old worn-out computers? Wow, these guys must have never seen a computer before! Then again, I suppose that once a mob starts, it's kind of hard to stop...

Yup, celebrities are falling off of horses way too often these days...
Everyone else - I saw that quote too and was horrified. He can't even drink yet here in the U.S. and he's acting like a drunk b@$t@rd.

Even if they are crusty old machines, they're still probably worth more than $50 on Ebay 😃 Plus, it didn't sound like there was a per-family limit or anything... so you could buy say 3 or more, and assemble a fully-working one, and sell the remaining parts 🙂
And, FWIW, many people still don't own a laptop. Not your everyday, chair-toting, "my rights are my rights, D#$ it all", types...
You can have my deckchair when you pry my cold dead fingers out of it!
It collapsed on me last week and they've been stuck ever since.
Of course, the question begs to be asked:
Did she get back on the horse?
Whatever it is, these people acted in an uncivilized manner. It just further proves that we cannot offer things for free or have good deals. Why? Because it creates angry mobs. But the people who take part in these mobs are the same people who insist that there is always a catch to a good deal and they never get anything for free. In other words, they are cynics. Too bad people are starting to take a cynical view towards them. :glare:
