Open Ports?

I'm kind of a newbie to PHP scripting, but I know a little.

I'm just wondering if there's a way to check for open ports on a client computer using a PHP script.

Also, I may as well kill two birds with one post, is there a way for me to make a PHP write the output of another script on a server to a text file?

Yes there is take a look at [man]fsockopen[/man] for opening a connection, you may find a better alternative.

If you want HTML/JS etc from that file than yes you can do it again take a look at [man]fsockopen[/man], if you want say the PHP code then no its not possible.

or you use system/passthru to start a real portscanner( nmap... ) and render the output to
html with php

2nd question:
or u may use fopen to write to a ftp-server
