GTK - What's next

I'm very much looking forward to GTK's (future plans/projects/support) approach. I'm very much impressed that PHP's very lightweight, in a sense that it can handle old pc's (MS Windows 9X, 500 mhz processor speed, etc.). With Sun's Java open source popularity but w/demanding system requirements, is there hope w/PHP-GTK? I believe there is as long as you have faith (and support, of course :-)). Pitfalls? Still looking forward to the binaries (if you know what I mean). Portability? Yup! That's another thing. Another alternative...hmmm...I think I have to learn C again to create a binary file for a GTK app? What do you think?
