I have got my local server working, now I am looking to upload a test page that I have produced. This is where my problems being!!!
I am using 1and1.co.uk to host my sites, but I only have 1 mySql database. This is currently set up to hold my sites forum.
If I name my local database with the same name as my remote one, when uploaded will it overwite the whole database? or only the areas of the database that as changed or is new?(ie will it merge info)
In it my thought that if I upload the database from my local server, I will lose all the tables that hold my forum information.
Could anyone advise me how I can update the database on my local computer that doesnt hold the forum files, then upload to the remote server, leaving the forum files stored there untouched.
I am new to all this, so if someone could point me in the right direction I would be really grateful.
