Hi everyone

im using the fopen function .

$file = "gb/comments.php";
$open = fopen($file, 'a');

but i have a problem !
i want to place the pointer at the beginning of the file. not in the end like the 'a' mode is doing , and i have to open the file for writing .(and to add the text to the rest text thats comments.php has)

grab the contents of the file using [man]file_get_contents[/man] or [man]file[/man] (depending on whether you want a string or an array). add whatever data to the string, then write it al back to the file using [man]fopen[/man] and [man]fwrite[/man].

or, use a database (if possible and/or practical).

You might be looking to use the r+ mode.

but i have problems with that mod to , its isnt ADD its overiting the data thats file.php allready has

Then you should have stated what exactly you wanted to do.

As devinemke suggested, use [man]file_get_contents/man to read the file to a string, prepend the data to the string, and then write back to the file with mode 'w' for fopen().

Without error checking, it would be something like:

$filename = 'gb/comments.php';
//read file contents to a string
$contents = file_get_contents($filename);
//prepend to the string containing the file contents
$contents = 'something to prepend' . $contents;
//write the string to the file
$fp = fopen($filename, 'w');
fwrite($fp, $contents);
fclose($fp);
