For a while now all of the projects I've worked on that delt with user image uploading I've stored as files. Some keeping the image name and some using the id plus some suffix. I've pondered the idea of storing it in the mysql database. Anyone know what kinda of effect this could cause in terms of speed and size costs? Basically which why is the best. Wouldn't have to have a writable directory then.
