How to get text between "" which has new lines???

Hi there,

I got this test.txt file which I need to parse

"77","name","","age","-blue
-red
-yellow
-black
","message","-boston
-new york
-la
","email"

and I have this php-code

$file = "test.txt";
$handle = @fopen($file, "r");

if($handle) {
	while (!feof($handle)) { 
	$line = fgets($handle);
list($nr, $name, $email, $age, $colors, $message, $place, $email) = explode(",", stripslashes($line));

$colors = str_replace("\"","",$colors);
echo colors;
}
}

But I only get -blue and not all colors in $colors????

Every color is on a new line in the text file

Well, you're only reading one line at the time; there's your problem 🙂
If you want to parse the whole file at once you could try this:

$filename = 'test.txt';
$file_contents = file_get_contents($filename):
list($nr, $name, $email, $age, $colors, $message, $place, $email) = explode('","', $file_contents);

All your colors should be in $colors, as a string still separated by newlines. If you want an array of $colors, you could use explode("\n", $colors) (or "\r\n" if we're talking about Windows here).

I also found a solution I replaced fgets with

$line = fread($handle, filesize($file));

oh one more question how do I loop through the txt file? "delimiter" for a group
of vars is nothing

I thought list() was doing that for me??
