zen-cart, multi-language version, but the countries table is in English only

I am checking out the zen-cart.

In zen-cart, I can set up it with English, German, and French etc.

But the countries table is in English only.

So if I am in French interface, the drop down menu for the countries is still in English.

I am not intending to use zen-cart in my project, but I would like to check it out and to borrow some ideas while I am writting my own scripts. So if some solutions you have not working with zen cart, it is fine with me. Because I am writting my own scripts here anyway.

How do you handle this problem?

1) leave it as it is

2) use what zen cart plug in to solve this problem (did this plug in has some conflicts with other plug in?)

3) or use third party or your own scripts to solve this problem?

Or it is supposed that even in the German, Dutch, French Zen Cart (or other e-commerce package), we still should use English as the country name for the address.

International standard approach?

Maybe this post belongs to "Echo Lounge" rather than database?
