Simple Links Manager

Hi all

I used to have a great little script (perl) for managing a simple links page on my site.

It had

Link submission by users
Email the admin
Admin verify
Allow link or not etc
Also listed the links of course

Had a nice admin page etc.

I have now switched to a windows host and would love a similar script in php.
Does anyone know where I could get a simple script that does the above?

I do not want database functionality, I'd only ever be talking about 20 - 30 links so flat text file or static html would be fine.

Would it be very complex to try and build my own, I have no php knowledge whatsoever?

Any advice / help greatly appreciated

I will be honest in telling you that a database would be much easier. If you have this option avaliable to you, it is much easier to work with then a flat file (imho). Right now your link list might be small, but over time if it grows, the database can handle the load, and it will also make it much easier to manage. With my old link list I could accept submissions, and it would add them to the database, then I could check the queue and review the submissions, if I accepted them it would put them up to be viewed instantly, if I denied them it would send an e-mail to the user with a reason. If your server gives you mysql access, and if you are interested in learning I have some source files that might help you out some.

It wouldnt be very complex to build this as a PHP newbie. Grab the manual, look at the file handling stuff (although I have to agree with fire_cracker, a db would be easier) and get started. if you get stuck on something, post again, and someone will give you a hand.

I have db option available, I can create mysql db's, I have a plesk host etc.

I would be very interested in any examples or existing code you may have
