probs with mysql + server ......

very new to all this and am playin around with diffrent things that diffrent sites have to offer , got a running apache server on windows , works fine from what all default pages show i can upload,download,delete etc all from this server but when i run a php it does not work , example the standerd type your name + age php script , u type name an age then submit it and it opens the action.php but with no info added , hi you are years old instead of hi NAME you are AGE years old , any suggestions welcome ty,

so u know i follow guide by the book , ap2.0 + php (from php.net) + MySQL + PHPmyadmin.

SUTC (Show us the code). Also, read the FAQ, etc. Sounds a whole lot like the infamous and you-shouldn't-ever-ask-about-this-'cause-it-is-so-dumb register_globals issue at first glance... 😉

@ Halojoy: Hey Halojoy, if the MySQL manual really was too tough for you, you know we can help you to work with REAL databases too!? 😃

@ Abemaca: This is indeed 99% sure a register globals issue: A few years ago the default security settings of PhP were modified, and many books have not caught up on this. You posted in newbies, so you are forgiven for now. (Oops.. Slipup 1 out of 1.. :p )

Now you are using $name as a variable, right? Try using $POST['name'] or $GET['name'] instead (Depend s on the way your form is defined. And look at the FAQ about this.
