[RESOLVED] Need help with uploading an image into a database

Does anybody know of any good tutorials for doing this. I'm a bit of a novice so if you know anything that might help me get started I'd love to hear about it.

Hi,

I would not upload the image to the database. Instead, save the path/filename and use that to display.

I don't think I can do that though. On my host the upload_tmp_dir is set to "no value". I am guessing that means I can't upload anything to the temp directory. I've tried to do it and it just gives me permission errors. So the database may be the only way to go unless I switch hosts. That wouldn't go over to well though.

You can change the 'upload_tmp_dir' setting by using ini_set().

Hopefully, something will work for me.

Can you change that setting if it's not your server? I'm using a web host. 101sitehosting.com. They are cheap and give you lots of PHP and database ability. I don't know if they'll work well with all the image upload code though.

Well, I thought I wouldn't be able to upload my files to my web host but I was able to. And thats why I was leaning towards uploading them straight into the database.

All I had to do is change the chmod to 777. I did this by using my FTP program. I use Core FTP which is a free download. I right clicked the folder I wanted to upload to and went to properties and then adjusted the chmod settings from there. Very easy. And I thought I wouldn't have access to alter the chmod settings if it wasn't my server. I guess I thought wrong.
