Can anybody tell me what the allowed formats are of these fields when sending mail:
1) The "string to" (1st parameter) in the mail(...) command. Example: "aaaa@bbb.cc, dddd@eee.nn".
The question is how multiple e-mail addresses must be added. Are they to be separated by a comma, or is a semicolon also allowed?
2) The "To:", "CC:" or "BCC:" strings in the mail headers variable.
These strings may contain several names and addresses. Example: "To: Mary <mary@example.com>, Kelly <kelly@example.com>\r\n" (PHP Manual, mail function).
Question: are they to be separated by a comma, or is a semicolon also allowed? Are the brackets <...> the only ones allowed, or is [...] also OK?
Further questions: How are these two fields handled? Are they both parsed? What addresses are actually used? Is the "To:" just for information?
Any help is appreciated.
