Retrieving only first line of my mysql text datatype & displaying

Helloo friends ,
I want to Retrieve only first line of my mysql text datatype & display in following format.
First line is retrieved from other field having date as datatype.
& second line is first line retrieved from mysql datatype of text.
Plz help me out.

Not sure what you mean here then/

You ahev store4d text in the database, and you want to retreieve the first record? Or is there a lot of text in the first record, which you want to split? In that case you could try using explode() to split the text by \n (Newline char)

there vare two fields in my dtabase
table name= news_detail

1)
first field is start_date in which the date is stored in date format with time
in this format 2005-08-27 00:00:00 which i want to show in Aug 25,2005 format

2) my second field is news which is of datatype of text
each row has text.
the text has many lines from which i want to reteieve only first line
& i want to show in a php page
like this

and use explode() (http://www.php.net/explode On \n to break the text) or substr() (http://www.php.net/substr After a certain number of characters) to create the substring of your text.
