I have a mysql table...with some words:
1. word1
2. word2+word3
3. word3+word4

and soo on...

I do i type in php:

I have a var: $search=home

If minim 3 letters from $search are in list..display the words that contain this minim 3 letters from word (hom or ome etc..)

Ex.: $search=home
and i have in mysql this words:
1. home+alone
2. net
3. sweet+ome

With the alghoritm will display: home+alone and sweet+ome

is it the entire word and chop off one character until it reaches 3?

I do not never use mysql
so somebody else have to help you
but if you first put all data from DB into one or several array() along with ID of records
then you can perform plain php functions and search code onto this array()

to do this with only mysql() functions
maybe is not so easy, as this is a special search idea thing you want to do

you really should know somebody 'expert' on such mysql searching
yes, we have several members here, that ARE VERY GOOD with this
if they come and help you - I am sure they can come up with something nice

where compares are made
and a result is delivered

If you could post here some php code for my problem ... For example...

Um, you're the one who has the best understanding of your problem, and you're the one writing the program; you post the code. Do some research. I'm sure the DBMS you're using (probably MySQL) has some documentation somewhere that lists the functions you can use in its queries. I know PHP has a chapter listing and describing its string functions.
