[RESOLVED] Authentication with Active Directory in PHP

Dear PHP Programmers,

I am attempting to create an internal application for my company and I am not part of the programming department but I do happen to be pretty decent at PHP. Anyways my current delima is that they use Windows 2000 Server Active Directory for User Authintication and attempting to re-enter all of this information in to a MySQL database would be a huge undertaking and something I just dont want to do.
Anyways my question is, is there a way to get PHP to communicate with the Server to authenticate people useing Active Directory. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
I have searched the forums and I did not find anything regarding this already of course I could of been searching for the wrong criteria.

If you check out the online manual(www.php.net search for ldap), there are oodles of user comments explaining how to do this. Looks like after you bind, you need to set the protocol. Also found this link.
