Guys,
An interesting one this. We send out HTML email alerts to customer from our PHP program on a daily basis. Since we swapped servers from inhouse to a managed host we are experiencing problems with HTML compatibility. Basically, one in about every 10 mails are not being read by our customers properly - they simply see the raw HTML in the body of the email.
Unfortunatly I don't really understand where possible break points could be, so turn to your expertise for help.
Our old box was running SuSE 9.2 with Exim installed. There was no problem sending HTML emails - we never had a problem.
The code we use is the PHP mail function.
So, moving on to our new box, we were only allowed QMail. The PHP function and the code on our software is identical - so it must be a problem with the way we/or the box is sending HTML format emails . . . right ?
The HTML that cannot be displayed properly is as follows:
Content-Type:text/html;
<html><HEAD><TITLE>Untitled Document</TITLE>
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">

.................... am I right in thinking that we need to change to MIME headers or something like that ? Don't really understand why some people can see HTML emails, and some cant. In most cases, the problematic customers are using a HTML compatible email client, such as Outlook 2003 etc.
Any help, guidance is greatly appreciated.
