Text field not written correct ?

I have a text field in my database where I write normal text with breaks.

But when I echo it on the site, it is written in one line, without any breaks.
Why is that, and who do I get it to write the test like it is written in the database ?

hello, one little thing to know is that if your php page outputs text with carriage return breaks in it, and you see the output in the browser, you will see no breaks because browser removes them. but they are in the page's source still. browser only trusts html tags to format text.

That's why it's not breaking on the site.
But how do I do that.

On this forum, it also makes the breaks. Is this text I'm writing now, store with in the database, or how do they get the breaks on the site. ?

well, if you look at the source for this page in the browser, and search for the words that you entered "On this forum, it also" you will see that there is tag before them. but when you typed your response you did not enter this tag, the server added it when you submitted your response. or it may have added it when it was outputting the text from its database. anyway, given a string with carriage returns in it, just search for them and replace them with or whatever.

So I have to have some kind of linebreak written in the text field ??

The easiest would then be to just type 's in the text field then ?

yes, you can type in your text but the users usually do not want to do that. they expect everything to just work.

OK.. That's not a problem.

It's only some of the entries that has an additional text, and it's not a database people update. It's only me that writtes new entries.
