Connect and send commands to server?

Hello, I'm trying to create a user online detection script using PHP for a game I play. I have the commands that need to be sent to the server, I was just wondering how I could go about connecting to a reote server, and how I would go about sending commands to it.

Anyone have any ideas?

I tried something with that a bit earlier.

Let's say for instance I need to connect to the game, and for now we'll say it's IP is 192.168.1.123 and it's running on port 80. I need to send the following commands:

connect Username PWD password
desc Text Here
color ..I"- 8<83!#

And after that, be able to see the server's response
