Ignoring INSERT INTO script

This is very strange. I have page to process the form submission that is to insert the data into the table and send an email of the entered data. However the data is not being inserted into the table. I've got the include the the email script and that is woking fine. In fact, I had the email include right after the db connect string, but have now moved it to under the INSERT INTO string. The meial is still working fine but it's as if tthe INSERT string is being ignored. I've messed with the string to give me an error, but I can't get it to give me an error. Very confusing. Here's what I have.

And where are you using the string? All the code you've given does is put it in a variable.

This code is put into my reply page from the form. The INSERT INTO statement is to insert the data from the form into the database table. Which it is not doing, it seems like the INSERT INTO statement is being ignored.

Ah, it appears I left out this:

$result = mysql_query($sql) or die (mysql_error()) ;

ok, now I get this sybtax error, dashes are not a problem....are they?:

syntax to use near '-1,Child-2,Child-3, Child-4,Child-5,Child-1-Gender,Child-2-Gender,Child-3-Gende' at line 2

It looks like they are. Try quoting them, or renaming the columns not to use dashes or (better yet, given what it looks like you're doing) renormalise the database are listed in a separate table, otherwise the sixth child will be in trouble.
