Question: Creating PHP Trialware - Time Limiting Scripts?

Hi,

I'm trying to make an existing php script into trailware that is fully fuctional but expires after a set period of time.

For example the user downloads the scripts and uploads to their server, runs the install.php file and is able to use the script for a period of 30 days (or whatever).

At the end of 30 days the user has the option to buy or the script disables itself.
If the user buys, they get a serial code that is entered into their script making it fully functional.

Does any know how I could go about achieving something like this or is able to maybe point me in the right direction for more information?

zend encoder (http://www.zend.com/store/products/zend-encoder.php) is capable of doing this. you should have the scripts encoded otherwise anyone, with the simplest understanding of php code can bypass these features.

$960/year ouch.... Do you by chance know of anything a bit cheaper or maybe ever open source 🙂

i think there is a php extension that will turn scripts to bytecode like zend does, but you would have to implement the licensing system on your own.

most programs ive seen to encode scripts cost money, and dont buy one unless it turns it to bytecode. there are many that encode or obfuscate them, but can be reversed.
