I have recently been toying with the idea of trying to create a website that emulates a 1980's style BBS closely.
For the forum section, I suppose I could use something like phpBB, but I am thinking something more simple perhaps.
The idea I am really trying to wrap my brain around at the moment, is making door games, and tying them into the user records for the BBS itself.
(ex: If I have a game where everyone is competing against each other, I would want that user to log into the "BBS" and when they play the game, it would just know it's that user because everything is tied into the user login.)
Of course it might be helpful if I created a door game or two to begin with. I have many ideas, both new and borrowed from the games I remember playing in the 80's while dialing into CNET, and Color 64 BBS, etc...
Has anyone else every attempted any of this? I would be curious to know how it turned out, etc...
