MySQL auto sorting

when i run

select * from locations where loc_id=7

i get

it orders the data by loc_x by itself i need it to be in the same order as in the DB is tere a way to do this??

And how do you 'just' do that?

If the ORDER BY clause is not specified, the database engine is free to order the data in any order, or disorder, for that matter.

Still, in the latter example it looks like the data is sorted by loc_y ASC followed by loc_x DESC, but that could be a coincidence.

Try this:

SELECT loc_id, loc_x, loc_y, loc_zmin, loc_zmax, proc
FROM locations
WHERE loc_id=7

It might work, it might not, but it is definitely not guaranteed to work as required.

Another thing - why do you need to do that? If you're hoping to sort according to time, then you should record the time and sort according to that. You should also have a primary key.

if its an a deff order then i get hourglass shapes not rectangles because it swaps 2 points

and what i mean by "if i just view the database" is if i open it in either SQLyog or MySQL Control Center it open it in the right order

What is this format? Can you tell if it is in the right format without running the part of the code that generates the image?

You should know how the data is sorted is this format - if it isnt, then you should provide some way of sorting this data when inserting into the database, e.g. a counter. This counter would then assign say, 1, to the first row of a given loc_id, and 4 to the last. Now sorting by the counter is guaranteed to return the results that you want. It may be possible to use a primary key with autoincrement, but a counter probably is a safer solution.

well the problen is that this it from the Lineage 2 game server so i cant change anything on that end i just want to extract the data from the database and put it in the textfile it uses and the stuff in te DB is from another version of the server that uses a DB insted of flatfile and the format is each {} is a point and the data is from each line in the db so the first line with loc_id 1 is the first set of data that goes into that string
so its like this

then it connects the dots in that order

What you have is an array of points (where each point is also an array). You need to sort the array by the x-value of each of the points.
